High bay warehouse and new bottling capacity secure competitive edge.

 

Gerolstein, 2008-05-30. The Gerolsteiner Brunnen GmbH & Co. KG is undergoing a transformation from mineral water specialist to supplier of natural non alcoholic beverages. Due to the increase in the product variety and modern packaging demanded by the consumer for a number of different occasions, the demands on production and logistics have risen significantly. With the project "TuLA" (technology and logistics architecture) cleared to go ahead by the board of directors, the starting shot has been fired for a comprehensive process of reorganization which is to prepare the company for the challenges of the future. Fundamental elements are the re-alignment and the extension of the bottling capacities as well as the construction of a high bay warehouse.
The new technology and logistics architecture offers an ideal base for productivity and efficiency, which will ensure our competitiveness on the market", says Ulrich Rust, CTO of the Gerolsteiner Brunnen GmbH & Co. KG.
 
A long term planning horizon will push the production and logistics capacity up to 960 million fillings by the year 2011. In the business year 2007 sales amounted to 790 million fillings. The capital expenditure by the year 2011 will amount to 61.7 million euros. The executive planning agency for the construction work is the architecture firm Lenartz / Lenartz and Partners in Hillesheim. In regards to the building contracts: As in the past they are to be awarded especially to competitive regional contractors.
